The Tandy 1000 was designed to directly compete with the IBM PCjr, and ended up dominating the PC compatible home market for a time. The 1000 was cheaper than the PCjr and more compatible with the IBM Personal Computer! Also, the 1000 was sold directly to customers at Radio Shack. The HX version shown here was popular due to its cheaper price tag and compact design. The 3.5? floppy drive was gaining in popularity, so software was easy to find in 1987.
